Most gardens don’t need grand designs — they need someone reliable turning up with sharp tools and an eye for what the season demands. That’s the heart of what we do: regular, unhurried maintenance that keeps borders full, beds clean and the whole garden feeling looked-after.
What a maintenance visit covers
- Weeding and bed care — borders hand-weeded and hoed, edges re-cut, soil kept open and mulched where it helps.
- Pruning and deadheading — shrubs, climbers and roses pruned at the right time of year, spent blooms removed to keep the display going.
- Planting — bedding, perennials, shrubs and small trees planted and staked properly, with honest advice on what thrives in local soil.
- Leaf clearing and seasonal tidy-ups — autumn leaves lifted from lawns and beds before they smother them; spring cut-backs to start the year clean.
- General tidying — paths swept and edged, obstacles cleared, and all green waste removed.
Regular rounds or one-off blitzes
Some customers have us fortnightly through the growing season; others book a monthly visit, or a big one-off tidy before a family event or after a house move. We’ll suggest a rhythm that suits the garden and your budget — a garden visited little and often almost always costs less over a year than one rescued twice.
Gardens of the West Sussex countryside
Working in and around the South Downs, we know the local conditions — the greensand and clay soils around Rogate and Trotton, the wind that dries out south-facing beds, and the shade cast by mature oaks and beeches that so many gardens here sit beneath. Planting and maintenance choices follow from that local knowledge, not from a catalogue.
Frequently asked questions
How often should a garden be maintained?
For most established gardens, a fortnightly visit from spring to autumn and a monthly one over winter keeps everything in hand. Smaller or simpler gardens may only need a monthly round; we’ll recommend honestly after seeing yours.
Do I need to be home when you visit?
No — as long as we can reach the garden, most customers leave us to it and come home to the results. Many of our regulars we see only at quote time.
Do you take garden waste away?
Yes, removal of green waste is included in our visits, or we can compost on site if you have the space and prefer to keep it.
Can you take on a badly overgrown garden?
Yes — we’ll usually start with a one-off clearance visit to get the garden back to a maintainable state, then move to a regular round to keep it there.
